Is it silly to distinguish an LED spotlight from an LED floodlight?

When we are in contact with LED devices, we sometimes encounter two different kinds of devices: LED spotlight and LED spotlight. So what's the difference between them? See the following introduction:

LED Spotlight:

LED spotlight is also called spotlight, projection lamp, spotlight and so on. It is mainly used for building decorative lighting, as well as commercial space lighting. The decorative components are heavy. Its appearance is round and square, because the reason of heat dissipation must be considered generally, so its shape is different from the traditional spotlight.

LED Spotlight Classification:

1. Rotational symmetry

The lamp adopts a rotationally symmetrical reflector, and the symmetrical axis of the light source with rotationally symmetrical light distribution is installed along the axis of the reflector. The isointensity curve of this kind of lamp is concentric circle. The elliptical spot is obtained on the irradiated surface when the single lamp is illuminated, and the illumination is not uniform. However, when the multi-lamp illumination is illuminated, the spot overlaps with each other, which can produce satisfactory illumination effect. LED Spotlight Characteristics:

At present, the commonly used LED spotlights on the market are basically 1W high-power LED (each LED component will have a high-efficiency lens made of PMMA, its main function is to redistribute the light emitted by the LED, that is, secondary optics). A few companies choose 3W or even higher-power LED because of the good heat dissipation technology. Suitable for large-scale lighting occasions, buildings and other lighting.

What else should we pay attention to in the spotlight?

1. High purity aluminium reflector and beam are the most precise and have the best reflection effect.

2. Symmetrical narrow-angle, wide-angle and asymmetrical light distribution systems.

3. Back-opening lamp replacement, easy to maintain.

4. Light fixtures are equipped with calibration boards to adjust the irradiation angle conveniently.

Through the control of built-in microchip, the LED projector can be used without controller in small engineering applications. It can achieve dynamic effects such as gradient, jump, color flicker, random flicker, gradient alternation, etc. It can also achieve chasing, scanning and other effects through the control of DMX. At present, its main application places are probably these: single building, external wall lighting of historical buildings, light transmission lighting inside buildings, indoor partial lighting, green landscape lighting, billboard lighting, medical and cultural lighting, bar, dance hall and other entertainment places atmosphere lighting, etc.

LED Flood Light

LED floodlight is a point light source which can illuminate evenly in all directions. Its illumination range can be adjusted arbitrarily, and it can be shown as a regular octahedron in the scene. Floodlight is one of the most widely used light sources in rendering. Standard floodlights are used to illuminate the whole scene. Multiple floodlights can be used in the scene to produce better results. Floodlight is one of the most widely used light sources in effect maps. In scenes, many floodlights can coordinate to produce better results. It's best to use it to analogize light bulbs and candles by illuminating objects evenly from a particular point in all directions. The floodlights can be placed anywhere in the scene.

For example, it can be placed outside the scope of a camera or inside an object. It is common to use many different colours of floodlights over long distances in scenes. These floodlights can cast shadows and mix them with models. Owing to the large illumination range of the floodlight, the illumination effect of the floodlight is very easy to predict, and there are many auxiliary uses for this kind of lamp. For example, if the floodlight is placed near the surface of the object, it will produce bright light on the surface of the object.

It should be noted that floodlights can not be built too much, otherwise the effect will appear flat and rigid. Therefore, we should pay more attention to the influence of lighting parameters and layout on the light sensitivity of the whole scene, accumulate more experience, and master the skill of lighting collocation.

Characteristics of floodlights:

At low current, the temperature rise of LED floodlights is not obvious. If the ambient temperature is high, the main wavelength of the LED floodlights will be red-shifted, the brightness will decrease, and the uniformity and consistency of the luminescence will become worse. Especially, the temperature rise of lattice and large display screen has more significant influence on the reliability and stability of LED floodlights. So heat dissipation design is very important.
